Baby Dedication

I apologize for taking over a month to update the blog...that is something that takes time and there is not much of that to go around these days.

Tonight we had Chloe & Emmi dedicated. It was a wonderful thing to be able to dedicate them and give them back to the Lord. For it is only because of Him that they are here with us.

Chloe is starting to talk. She says Mommy, Thank You, Murray (our dog), and Peek-a-boo. Obviously, they aren't exactly recognizable to just anybody...but we are so encouraged that she is already verbalizing. It seems each day she tries to say more and more. We are excited b/c one of the biggest struggles we have had is the communication with her. Now we feel like she is understanding us and we are beginning to understand her. She is walking everywhere...no more crawling for her. She also likes to climb into small areas and openings -- such as, underneath the exersaucer, in the laundry basket, and other places around the house that are difficult to explain via typing. Chloe also can shake her head "no" -- and knows exactly when to answer "no" when asked a question. If we could only get her to shake her head "yes" now!!

Emmi has blossomed since she started eating. Mind you, her eating got worse before it got better. She even quite drinking her bottle at one point. I finally took control of the situation and put her on a strict 3 meal a day schedule -- if she doesn't eat when it is offered, then she doesn't get anything else until the next mealtime. It only took one day of her going hungry and she started opening her mouth wide for the baby food. Now she eats at least 1 jar if not 2 of baby food at each meal, and she drinks her bottles dry most of the time. Once this happened she turned into a new child...very active and really playing on her own. We think she just didn't have the energy before. And according to her records and what info we got from the orphanage, I think she had always been and "on & off" eater -- which would explain more why she was physically delayed in her development. She isn't quite crawling yet, but she is scooting or somehow moving b/c she ends up in different places and gets whatever she may be after at the time. It won't be long b/c she watches her sister move about the house, and you can tell she wants to so bad.

Life is busy with the 2 of them -- especially when you are trying to go somewhere, but we can't imagine it any different...this is all we know and somehow we manage to get places on time. :0)
