honestly, the pictures don't do it justice. a few weeks ago, i obtained a great set of (washable) tempera paints. complete w/ the nice preschool containers that prevent spills AND smocks. so after naps i set them up in the playroom with the paint. i had tons of paper for them to paint on and stated the number 1 rule was we ONLY paint on paper. i started them on their masterpieces and then was in & out as i did some house work. all was well. they were doing great and enjoying themselves...THEN my phone rang. let me just say that i think my girls have learned that when i am on the phone that it is the perfect opportunity to get all kinds of snacks or candy that i have earlier denied them. however, this day no requests for anything came in. in fact, when i hung up i realized that it was rather quiet. and you see by the pictures what i found. but to them they weren't doing anything wrong. they were painting the matchbox cars and then chloe was making a kite out of the papers she had painted (it didn't bother her that the paint on the paper wasn't dry). emmi had dumped out beads from other containers (that had lids) so that she could pour the paint in those containers so it wouldn't dry out (so much for the spill-proof preschool paint cups...she pryed the lids off). it was a HUGE mess. they were covered in paint too. i had to get them to the tub while i cleaned the room...which was made even more difficult by the tiny beads that covered the floor. they HURT when you step on them. to top this mess off...do you know what tempera paint is made of? eggs. so my house smelled like rotten eggs for a few days after this incident. they HAVE painted since this BUT it was outside. we hung an old sheet from the clothesline out back and gave them the paints & brushes. they had a blast and my house was safe :0)

Alli, let me just say that God knows who can handle what and that is why you and David are blessed with two little Picaso's to teach, steer and lead--and you are doing a fabulous job! One day (in what will seem like a flash in hindsight) you will treasure the memory of this mess! Seriously. You will! ;)
